breast augmentation

New Alternative and Auxiliary Techniques in Breast Augmentation

If you've been considering having breast implants put in to enhance your appearance, but are unsure if the procedure is right for you, there are questions you can ask yourself to guide the decision. Whilst breast augmentation can provide an incredible boost to self-esteem and appearance, the fact is this surgical procedure is not right for everyone. The more soul searching you do, the more likely it is you will arrive at the best decision for your personal case.

Before making a decision one way or another, it is wise to carefully review your case with a surgeon. It is also a good idea to ask yourself these questions:

What are my motivations for having a boob job?

This can prove to be one of the most important questions you can ask yourself prior to having a consultation with a surgeon about breast enlargement. Women who are motivated by a desire to enhance their looks, fill out their shape or improve the symmetry of their breasts are often on the right track. Those who want to have the biggest breasts on their block or have a deep-seeded belief that a boob job will change their life likely are motivated by the wrong reasons. Breast augmentation can greatly improve appearance of the breasts, but it may or may not change a woman's life.

Do I plan on having children?

Whilst it's not always possible to predict the future, if childbearing is not completed breast enhancement might better serve down the road. Having a boob job does not preclude a woman from having children.

What is my medical status?

Being in fairly good physical condition can be important for the outcome of a boob job. In general, women should be of average weight, healthy and not have any serious medical conditions. Diseases like diabetes and malignant cancer can complicate the procedure and make it an unwise choice.

Have I had breast surgeries before?

Breast implants are not generally recommended for women who have undergone two or more previous breast-related surgeries.

Do I use recreational drugs?

Frequent use of certain recreational drugs can complicate breast augmentation and make it an unwise choice. Whilst no recreational drug use is ever advised, drugs like LSD can make this procedure a problem for an individual woman.

Do I have a history of making poor or unrealistic decisions about my body?

Breast enlargement is not recommended for women who have unstable personalities or who have difficulty accepting the appearance of their bodies.

Have I done my homework?

Breast enhancement might involve outpatient surgery, but that doesn't mean the procedure isn't a serious one. Ideal candidates for this surgical procedure have done their homeowner, understand the risks and potential outcomes and are realistic about what to expect.

Breast augmentation surgery can result in a shapelier, more attractive appearance of the chest. It may not change a woman's life or transform the future. Before diving into this elective procedure, it is a very good idea to review the options closely. The best decisions are made when women are fully informed.

Breast augmentation, capsular contracture and Singulair were the subject of a recent article in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal that cites a study that shows that Singulair improves capsular contracture in women with breast implants. 19 patients with breast implants were treated. 17 patients presented with capsular contracture from a variety of breast operations. Two patients who had a history of recurrent capsular contracture were given the medication prophylactically. 11% of the patients became worse 16% of patients had no change 26% improved 37% completely improved and 11% were prevented from getting capsular contracture. The study showed that Singulair improves capsular contracture in women with breast implants. It appeared to have better results in milder contracture versus more severe contracture. Singulair is well-tolerated with minimal side effects.

This corresponds with what I've been doing for the last several years. However now there is a published study that shows that Singulair works. This doesn't make it work any better but it does further legitimize the off-label use.

As mentioned before, many different things can cause contracture after breast implants. Factors like bacterial contamination and hematoma. These can prolong the inflammatory response. A colleague and friend of mine, Dr.Schlesinger, discovered that a drug called Accolate, which is an anti-inflammatory asthma drug, worked in improving capsular contracture and published this. However it was discovered later on that Accolate had a very small incidents of extremely severe complications including hepatitis, liver failure and death. This led to the abandonment of the use of Accolate despite the fact that it worked very well. Singulair is a similar type of drug. It is what is called a leukotriene inhibitor. These are factors that are thought to be responsible for capsular contracture.

This particular study on women with breast implants confirms what I have personally noted over the last several years. Cingular can help reverse contracture when it is caught early and just starting. It can also help prevent recurrence. However, if someone comes in with established contracture or extremely firm contracture it has little effect. The repair of very firm contracture is still a surgical procedure

Capsular contracture still continues to be an annoying and expensive problem in plastic surgery. By using techniques like the no-touch Keller Funnel while placing breast implants during breast augmentation, see my previous blog about the Keller Funnel, IV antibiotics and antibiotic irrigation we can reduce the incidence of contracture. However it is good to know that Singulair has been shown to be effective. In my own practice I combine it with cold laser to make it even more effective and see about 4 out of 5 people respond to the combination.

Breast Augmentation: The Recovery Period

Enlargement of one's breasts by plastic surgery is done by placing an implant partially underneath the pectoralis major muscle. By so doing, this causes a muscular injury and begs the important question of what is the best way to recover after this surgery. Like all muscle injuries, a more rapid recovery is achieved by using physical therapy techniques.

After cooling or icing one's breasts for the first few hours after surgery. I like to begin initiation of a Rapid Recovery program with early physical therapy. Arm range of motion exercises (stretch) should start the night of surgery. This consists of raising your arms from your side out to 90 degrees to the shoulder level. Repeat this 10 times every two hours on the day of surgery until you go to bed that nite. The day after surgery increase the angulation of the arms from the body up to 120 degrees every three hours or so. The following day you should be able to get the arms up to 180 degrees from your side. By the fourth day after surgery begin slow wind mills of 360 degrees going forward and then back. These stretching exercises should continue for the first week after surgery.

The second type of pectoralis physical therapy is a stretch exercise uses the help of a door way. Stand in the middle of a door way with one foot in front of the other. Bend your elbows to a 90 degree angle and place your forearms on each side of the door way. Shift your weight on to your front leg, leaning forward, until you feel a stretch in your chest muscles. Hold for 15 seconds, relax and return to starting position. Repeat this manuever 10 more times. This should be done four or more times per day during the second week after surgery. This type of stretch introduces some resistance which may be felt more down at the low sternal attachment, some of which may been partially released at the time of surgery.

Using an early initiation of a pectoralis stretching program, one can have a more rapid recovery after breast augmentation. Beginning the night of surgery and continuing for several weeks, most patients can have complete and full recovery within this time period. I have used this program for years in my Indianapolis plastic surgery practice and have found it universally effective for breast augmentation regardless of the patient's age.

breast reconstruction

Men and women alike in our modern culture are obsessed with breasts. Most men love them and most women have a complicated relationship with their breasts. Although some women love the breasts nature gave them, others worry about their own breasts' shape and the size.

If a woman is unhappy with her breasts, it can hurt her self esteem and make her feel less confident. Over the last 25 years, improved plastic surgery techniques have made it fairly easy for women to change their breasts to any size or shape they desire. Larger, higher breasts are very desirable and more and more women are opting for surgery to give them the breasts they want.

Various Types Of Augmentation Surgery

There are many different types of breast augmentation surgery, and a woman can now choose to have her breasts firm or soft. She may choose to have them look like round melons or in more of a teardrop shape. Some women have implants, some have a breast lift and still others opt to have both implants and a lift.

Regardless of the type of breast augmentation surgery elected, after-surgery care is very important. If you are wondering what type of bra to buy, here are some tips that can help.

Breast Augmentation After-Surgery Bras

After any breast augmentation surgery, you should wear a soft bra with no underwire. A sports bra is usually ideal after surgery. Your breasts will be swollen after the procedure and you may find you need a larger bra than she expected. Contrary to popular belief, most doctors do not measure breasts in terms of cup sizes. Therefore, the plastic surgeon is unable to determine in advance what size bra you should buy.

In some cases, your doctor might recommend a compression bra to help ease the swelling. Compression bras work by pressing on the surface of the skin, thereby reducing the physical volume of the breast and surrounding area. These bras can also help you heal faster. You should always check with your doctor and follow his or her guidelines when choosing a bra after surgery. Note that underwire bras should not be worn until your breasts have completely healed.

The Importance Of A Professional Bra Fitting

After the swelling has subsided and your breasts are completely healed, a professional bra fitting will be needed to determine your new bra size. Most lingerie stores and some department stores offer free bra measurements. It is best to have two different measurements taken and then try on numerous bras to find the best fit.

Bra shopping after surgery can be an exciting time. You should do everything you can to feel good about your new breasts. Take the time to try on different styles of bras and find ones that are both comfortable and attractive.

boob reduction surgery

After the FDA banned silicone breast implants back in 1992, researchers and medical experts developed a safer alternative and is currently been approved by the FDA for clinical testing. These items are officially called cohesive gel implants. Although, most people call it gummy bear implants because it has the same consistency as the gummy candies (without the taste). The gummy bear implants are the newest type of implant being tested now by the FDA.

Cohesive gel implants were made after the FDA banned the use of silicone due to possible health risks. As you know, silicone are prone to rupture. Thus, the FDA pulled the plug on it. This led to the development of an implant that's more reliable and safer.

These are called cohesive because they stick together in a gel-like mass unlike saline-filled. However, don't be confused. Technically speaking, both implants use cohesive gel. However, the new breast augmentation procedure is solid unlike the old silicone gel, which has a liquid-like quality. Because of this, there is less chance for leaks. Moreover, it provides a more natural look and feel than other types.

However, the negative and positive effects of cohesive gel implants remain unverified since it's still under clinical testing. Not everyone can get cohesive gel implants and the results are not guaranteed to be as good as promised. Moreover, cohesive gel implants is not offered by all doctors. If you are interested in being part of the clinical trial, make sure that your plastic surgeon is board certified and approved by the FDA. You may start looking at the board-certified plastic surgeons at the California Surgical Institute.

Although cohesive gel-based breast augmentation method are still under clinical trials, it is hoped to be available in the near future for any woman who wishes to have breast augmentation procedure done. Results show that this new procedure keep their shape than saline implants or traditional silicone. However, it is not advisable to use these implants for large breast augmentation since it requires larger incision and may lead to surgical complications.

Nonetheless, cohesive gel implants are great alternative to saline. And because it is relatively new in the U.S., women can only get it through clinical studies. Breast Augmentation: How To Determine Size

One of the risks of breast augmentation with implants is a condition called capsular contracture. When you get an implant, the body forms a natural lining around it which is a capsule of sorts. During surgery, a pocket is formed for the implant and in natural healing, the formed capsule just forms around and the pocket leaves room for the implant to stay put and to feel natural.

In the case of capsular contracture, the lining squeezes the implant and causes it to become misshapen and can make it feel hard. Eventually, it can cause discomfort and even pain and if left untreated, can have some pretty severe consequences.

This is a very common side affect, and tends to happen within the first few months after surgery. If you begin to notice your new breasts looking or feeling strange, alert your doctor. There are a few things that can be done to treat the condition.

The first thing to do is a combination of breast compression and massage. Compression in quadrants and massaging the area can help to keep everything pliable and soft. This can help the contracture from happening. Vitamin E supplements can also help, as this vitamin is known for relaxing scar tissue.

If these simple things don't fix the problem, the next step is to schedule a capsulotomy. This is a procedure where sections of the tissue are removed to lessen the pressure.

In some cases this completely fixes the problem. However, if that doesn't work, there is a surgery called a capsulectomy. This is when the entire tissue is removed from around the implant and offers the best results possible.

This surgery does carry its own complications, such as loss of nipple sensitivity or losing the ability to breastfeed if you have children. It is also an invasive procedure.

During the surgery, the doctor may decide to change the implant or to move the placement of it a bit in order to prevent contracture from happening again. Most people say that the time and money are worth it though, as it offers complete relief and has a very high success rate.

Whichever route you decide to go, it is important to discuss things with your surgeon. There are certain things that can hurt your breasts or implants (like doing too-hard compressions) that can lead to extreme pain, infection and emergency surgery situations. Your doctor knows best when it comes to these things and will be able to recommend the best course of treatment.

He or she can use different methods to help protect the parts necessary to a healthy breastfeeding relationship.

It is important to know going in that implants do not last forever. Is Breast Augmentation Surgery Right For You?

Having small breasts may be the cause of low confidence in women. A woman looks attractive with breasts that are big and well-shaped. If you are a woman and are not happy with your breast size and shape, no need to be depressed - breast augmentation plastic surgery will give you the bust that you have always desired for.

The surgical way to enlarge breasts

This kind of breast surgery is also known in the medical world as augmentation mammoplasty. Surgeons suggest a breast implant for enlarging the size of breasts in women. Breast augmentation plastic surgery is a cosmetic surgery that makes a woman look attractive to the opposite sex.

The two kinds of breast implants in use are:

- Saline implants
- Silicon gel implants

In saline breast implant procedure, a silicone elastomer shell is filled with sterile saline liquid, whereas in a silicon gel breast implant surgery, a silicone shell is filled with a thick silicon gel. According to some doctors, placing the implant behind the chest muscle is beneficial for future mammograms; this is a better option than getting the implant done beneath the breast tissue but in front of the chest muscle. Breast implants are not only done for the enlargement of breasts, but they also serve the purpose of:

Replacing the breast tissue that has been removed due to cancer or reconstruction of breasts with an abnormal shape
Repeating a surgery to improve or correct the consequence of the previous breast reconstruction surgery

So who are the ones who opt for a breast augmentation surgery? Definitely women with small breasts; but the larger percentage is women who are young, healthy, married with children and hailing from a high socio-economic status. However, there may be many adverse effects post-surgery; a woman with a breast augmentation plastic surgery may suffer from post-operative bleeding, surgical site infection, pain in the breasts, ugly scarring or a reduced sensation in the breasts.

Post-surgical measures

There are certain things one needs to keep in mind after getting a breast augmentation surgery done. A patient will be able to start normal activities in a week, but exercising and strenuous activities have to be avoided for 6 weeks after the surgery. It is essential to avoid straining the body in any manner and to stay away from smoking. Normally the scars from a breast enhancement surgery will stay for 6 weeks or longer.

If you are ready to take some pain for the glory of having larger breasts and looking elegant, the breast augmentation surgery is the best bet for you. Make sure you get the surgery done by a reputed surgeon and abide by all the necessary measures post-surgery.

Many years ago, when a woman was displeased with the shape of her breasts there was very little they could do about it. There may have been some old wives tales about doing some exercises that helped keep breasts firm, but these have been seen as being of no real worth. The old adage of 'I must I must, I must increase my bust' would refer in modern days to breast augmentation rather than arm exercises.

The reasons for having breast augmentation are varied, ranging from the purely cosmetic to rebuilding the breast after a mastectomy or to correct congenital chest wall deformities. In Britain, when it comes to the question of whether the state funded health care system (National Health Service) will fund such breast augmentation operations - it is likely that only in the case of mastectomy of congenital wall deformities that the state would foot the bill.

In many cases it is a procedure used to firm up the breasts after they have begun to sag a little; and breast augmentation holds an answer to it. People who are considering this form of surgery would turn to private clinics that specialise in it.

It is very important to fully understand the procedure before you go ahead with it, and all good breast augmentation specialists will no doubt go into great detail with you about the pre-surgical activities, the procedure itself - and the healing process afterwards.

In the UK, there are a great deal of private clinics that specialise in these procedures.

There are two commonly used implant types used to fill the breasts where previously there was less structural integrity in the breasts. The first kind is the saline implant, which is a silicone shell filled with a saline solution. The second breast implant commonly used is the silicone shell filled with a viscous silicone gel.

Before the introduction of these saline and silicone based implants, surgeons had been trying different ways to fill the breast in order to regain firmness. For well over 100 years, surgeons had been trying various ways, ranging from the very first breast implant carried out by Vincenz Czerny, who used a benign lipoma from the patient in question's back, and placed it in their breast, following the removal of a breast tumour.

Ground rubber, polyethylene chips, terylene wool, poly vinyl - all these materials have been used in attempts to fill breasts and improve the look of the breast.

Breast augmentation remains an increasingly popular procedure for many women, and looks like it will continue to be so.

breast augmentation

The great majority of women who have had breast enhancement surgery done are extremely satisfied with their results. They have a renewed sense of self confidence and clothes shopping is a lot more fun. However, a surprising percentage of them experienced some very negative emotions shortly after the surgery. Many compare these feelings to those experienced during post partum depression. There are many things that go into a successful recovery during the post breast augmentation period and handling the emotional roller coaster may be one of them.

Anastesia can be the problem for some women. Besides experiencing physical complications like migraines or nausea, waking up from surgery can have a lingering effect on the mind as well. It's important to have friends and family around to support you at this time.

Many women experience regret upon seeing their breasts for the first time. A major change in your body can take some time to get used to and you should prepare yourself for the "shock" of seeing the new you. Another reason regret sometimes sets in is, your breasts usually do not look very appealing right after surgery. It can take weeks or months for them to fully heal and take on a natural appearance.

You may be extra sensitive to stares and attention your new breasts will attract and many women have a hard time getting used to this. Planning conservative outfits to wear for the first few weeks of showing off the new you should help to keep feelings of insecurities down as you venture into public initially.

Make sure to ask your physician what to expect from every aspect of post breast augmentation surgery. Remember, feelings of regret or sadness is not uncommon and they will go away.

New Alternative and Auxiliary Techniques in Breast Augmentation

If you are interested to know more, be sure to consult a certified plastic surgeon to learn more about your options. You can also check online for more information on the different breast augmentation procedures.

Updating Your Look

Consider going with the smaller breast implant (between 125cc and 500cc - cc stands for cubic centimeters) for that perkier look. This conservative one can help you feel better about yourself with a subtle change.

The lift and increase in size is more natural, with many different options regarding skin type, shape, original size, and desired effects. Many mothers prefer this procedure to combat the results of breast feeding, and other women prefer it to better fill out clothing without anyone having to know that they've had surgery of any kind.

If you desire a more natural appearance, stay on the small side. While there are some seriously skilled surgeons that have the know-how to make almost any breast augmentations of any size look fairly realistic, there is a limit. When the size increases, so does the unlikely-natural appearance. If you want the larger implants, you've committed to a serious change in your appearance.

Making the Statement

In most cases, 600-700cc will accomplish a woman's goal to gain a significant amount of size and fill a DD cup. This is considered the normal range for large implants, but some women want to have the largest possible enhancement they can have.

These women sometimes request foreign material ranging from 750cc all the way to 1200cc (the legal limit). If this is your type of surgery, you need to look for someone that specializes in larger implants. Before and after photos are commonly found in the office, and this is a good way to get an up-close look at the surgeon's skill level.

As with all breast augmentations, serious complications may occur and they will generally worsen as the size of the implant increases. You should be fully aware of all possible problems before surgery, and this is not to scare you.

This also does not mean that you should jump off the operating table, as breast augmentations have helped many women achieve their appearance goals. You must strictly follow your doctor's orders when it comes to both short-and long-term recovery for ideal results.

Something that all patients need to consider before going into that first consultation is why they're going in the first place. The doctor will be asking you this question, so search your goals for any signs of self-image insecurity.

Is it to impress a spouse or significant other, or show off to your friends? Your only goal should be to simply enhance your looks.

Is Breast Augmentation Surgery Right For You?

Many people get breast augmentation surgery and love the look of their new breast. However, many times excessive scar tissue can form on the implant and the implant will become very hard. The scar around the breast hardens and squeezes the implant. Sometimes dues to these scars you lose the beauty of your newly implanted breasts.

It is normal to have some scar tissue form but with this your implant will feel really firm and hard. It can be hard to predict prior to the surgery if you will get a capsular contractor however it can be a common problem with breast augmentation surgery and should be addressed immediately. A professional and experienced doctor can help you in curing this problem.

If you decide on breast augmentation, then you may want to consider textured implants which decrease the likelihood of the capsular contractor because of the rough surface that forms. It can prevent hard capsule from forming. Many people decide to get their breast implants under the muscle, which can also decrease the likelihood of this problem.

You can also get regular massages or compression, which is generally done with smooth implants. This should be done a few weeks after the procedure and should be routinely done while you have your implants. Also, if the surgeon is always making sure no foreign substance touches the implant, this can help also.

If you do get capsular contractor, then you can get antibiotics to help treat it. The doctor will also try and remove the entire capsule around the implant because you do not want other contractures to form in the future. Some doctors just cut the capsule to release the scar but this can lead to problems in the future.

If the procedure does not get solved with antibiotics or if the capsular is a large problem, then you may have to take out the implant so that you do not run the risk of big problems in the future. Make sure you talk to your doctor and you two have a candid talk to decide what to do if you get the problem. If detected early, you should not have any immediate health risks.

If you develop capsule contracture, then you have many options available for you. Make sure you understand many of the preventative methods as well as the other options you have if you develop the problem after you put in your implants.

cost of breast implants

There are other ways to achieve a breast augmentation other than actually having surgery. There are ways of changing the appearance of your breasts and not having to go under the knife. You can do a few simple things on your own and it will look like you have natural and beautiful breasts.

Anyone can make their breasts look bigger themselves by doing a few things. If you have thought about having plastic surgery, done in order to make you feel sexier and to make your clothes fit you better, then you should hear about a few things first. A few natural products that you can do will make your breasts appear bigger and fuller.

One step for natural breast augmentation is creams. Many manufacturers have come up with productive creams that will enhance the appearance of breasts over a certain amount of time. These creams will stimulate the breasts so that they will actually grow in size. Obviously, you will not have dramatic results right away. However, you will see a change in your breast appearance and it is one that you will like. Most of these creams can be bough over the counter and need to be applied on a regular basis.

Another good idea for natural breast augmentation is to take vitamins. Some pills will actually enhance your breasts over an extended period of time when you use the pills on a regular basis. These pills can be bought online or at some drug stores. The breast enlargement pills and vitamins will help to make your cup size bigger and make your breasts feel fuller and firm. You will find that these pills will help to completely transform your body into the one that you have always wanted with out the painful surgery.

If you are not sure about using the pills and the vitamins in order to make your breasts larger and look more full, you can always use the padding and padded bras. When you opt to use padding in your bras, it does not mean stuff it with tissue. Instead, there are cups that you can place inside your bra that will make your breasts look natural and beautiful. You will not have to under go any kind of breast augmentation in order to get this desired look and feel.

You can also buy a padded or push up bra to help give your breasts a lift. These bras will give the illusion of larger and fuller breasts with out having to have any kind of breast augmentation done. This is something that you can choose to do on certain occasions or you can wear the added padding all the time. Either way, this will give you the freedom to do look the way that you want in order to feel good about your body.

Cohesive Gel Implants

The breast lift procedure is a great alternative to the traditional boob job. Instead of just adding boobage to your chest, you can contour the shape of your breasts and create the perfect body. Before you go into the clinic for your operation, get yourself ready, and everything will go just fine!

Take Off A Little Weight And Your Body Will Thank You

Before your breast lift, doctors recommend you slim up a little. Your body should be in the best shape possible if you want the best results from your breast lift. If you are sagging all over and tipping the scales a little, it's tougher to contour your breasts just the way you want them.

Quit Smoking!

If you're a smoker, you know this is easier said than done. But in plastic surgery, most easily avoidable complications come from smoking. Nicotine interferes with your body's natural ability to hear itself, especially from scar tissue. It can also cause problems with medications and anesthesia. If you can't stop, cutting down will help.

Get On The Wagon

Heavy drinkers should also take heed. As I mentioned earlier, your body should be in the best shape possible. Avoid any serious drinking for at least a week before your breast lift operation.

Have A Routine Check-Up

Before you have any work done, you should get a routine check-up to make sure there aren't any problems with your breasts. There is probably nothing to worry about. The chance that there's a problem is slim, but if you get a check-up, at least you'll know you're safe and ready for your operation.

Know What You're Getting Yourself Into

Be sure you know as much as possible about the operation before you go in. You can talk to the doctor at length during the consultation, and get all of your questions answered. The most important thing is to know what to expect.

A breast lift takes up to 3 hours. There will be anesthesia used. You can expect some pain and bruising after the operation. You'll probably be back to work in a week, and in a month or so, you can resume all of your previous activities. There may still be visible scars for up to a year.

Once you're all ready to go, it's a piece of cake. You'll go under the anesthesia, the doctor will do their thing, and in just a few hours you'll be ready to walk out of the clinic with your new breasts. Take it easy and follow doctor's orders carefully, and you'll have no problem at all!

Best Research on breast surgery in CA 91801

Breast enhancement in CA 91801 is a surgery growing in popularity as each year passes. Why not? It helps many LA women gain confidence in their bodies, feel more proportionate and more attractive and seems to improve life by leaps and bounds. While all of these things are true, it is still important to know all the side effects and risks. Your Plastic Surgery Doctor in CA 91801 should discuss all of these with you beforehand so that you are well-prepared.

Many women in CA 91801 and LA are getting breast enhancement procedures at rapid paces. It is a procedure that has become incredibly sophisticated and common and this makes some women forget that there are still risks and side effects. While you shouldn’t dwell on these things and let them scare you, it is important to be aware of these things going in so that you know what to look out for.

One common side effect loss of sensation. This happens when nerves are damaged in the surgery. If this is a concern for you, make sure to discuss it with your doctor. He or she should go over everything with you, but may not remember all the little details.

breast implant surgery Doctor

This can usually be avoided with different incision techniques. Another common effect is losing the ability to breastfeed. This is the same as the sensation: If you think you may want to breastfeed in the future, inform your doctor. He or she can use different methods to help protect the parts necessary to a healthy breastfeeding relationship.

It is important to know going in that implants do not last forever. They have to be replaced every so often (your doctor will be able to give you an idea of how often you’ll have to replace them) and they can also rupture or leak. Leaking is something that shouldn’t do too much harm if the material is from something that is FDA approved.

This is one reason it is important to go to a CA 91801 doctor that is licensed and experienced, to ensure that you are getting only approved things put into your body. This material, when it leaks, has not been shown to cause significant damage. However, if you suspect a leak, call your surgeon immediately.

If one ruptures, you’ll usually know it. The shape of your breast will likely change significantly. This can only be fixed surgically. If you are going in for any type of breast exam (like a mammogram) be sure to let them know that you have implants so that they can exercise necessary caution.

There are also risks that are common to any procedure that include a reaction to anesthesia, bruising or bleeding, swelling, and things like that. Your doctor will go over all of those things with you. Make sure to ask about everything in your consultation. If you are not comfortable with your surgeon, look for another one. Your comfort level and full disclosure are two necessary components of any surgery.

When all of these risks are discussed and paired with your medical history, things can be done in ways that are specific to your best interests. When you are well-informed you can go into your surgery with peace of mind and will better be able to enjoy the results of your new appearance.

Breast Augmentation - How to Get Ready For Your Breast Lift Surgery

Surgery has become so common place in our society over the past decade that most women think nothing of going in for a little cosmetic work that once would have been a big deal. Television makeover shows and plastic surgery Toronto ads would have you think that these procedures, such as tummy tucks and breast augmentation, are simple little procedures that are over and done with in no time and can work miracles.

We've come a long way in cosmetic surgery. Toronto is one of the leading areas for procedures like breast augmentation, but there are still some things you need to consider if you are seriously thinking about getting a breast augmentation.

1. Recovery time. What you don't see on television is that you aren't going be feeling that great for some time after your breast augmentation. That`s not to say that you shouldn`t go for it, just be prepared to be rather uncomfortable for some time afterwards. Immediately after the surgery, you'll be bruised and in pain, but your breasts will stay tender for some time afterwards and you'll need to wear a special bra to keep them from swelling too much and to give the proper support. Keep in mind that you might not be up to working for a week or more after surgery.

2. Breastfeeding. If you are of childbearing age, this is something to consider. For many women, the benefits of a breast augmentation greatly outweigh the possibility of not being able to breastfeed a child at a later date. However, it is certainly something to consider, particularly if you are going up several cup sizes. The more drastic the change, the less likely it is that you`ll be able to breastfeed. It`s up to you to choose a doctor with a high rate of success in this type of cosmetic surgery. Toronto has a variety of doctors who will be able to give you statistics on their patients` success rates.

3. The cost. While the cost of plastic surgery has dropped drastically over the past several years, it can still be a blow to the bank account to get a breast augmentation. Make sure you understand all the costs up front and talk to your plastic surgeon about any possible extras, for example if you need to stay longer in the hospital. Often, doctors will give you a discount for having more than one procedure done at one time, so if you plan to have a couple of things fixed up, schedule it for the same surgery. At the very least, you`ll save on the hospital stay.

4. Where to have it done. When it comes to plastic surgery, Toronto is a good option for breast augmentation. The surgeons in Toronto have a good reputation for doing excellent work and it is one of the more medically advanced cities within Canada. Choose a hospital where you feel comfortable and that will cater to your needs.

5. Complications. While everyone hopes their surgery will go smoothly, there are cases where complications arise, either during or after the surgery. Find out from your doctor what the risks are in your particular case so you can make an informed decision. Keep in mind that most people come through surgery just fine. However it`s just smart to know what might happen, such as infections or leakage.

Breast augmentation is one of the most common forms of cosmetic surgery. Toronto has a reputation for this type of surgery and many women choose to have their operations done in the city. It`s important to consider the above points before making such a big decision, though.

fat transfer breast augmentation surgery

Breast augmentation surgery can give you larger and more voluptuous breasts. If you feel that your chest is too small, this cosmetic option can help you to feel better about yourself and your appearance.

One common question that many breast augmentation patients have is if they will need to have their implants changed in the years to come. Some people are told that at routine intervals they will need to have an operation to replace their implants. It could be anywhere from around 8-10 years. But for some women, they may have their new breasts for many more years than that before they have to think about having a replacement operation.

One concern following breast augmentation is that the implants will leak. The potential for leakage is quite low for a number of years. The risk rises as the years go by. Unless a leak has been discovered, operating on a patient without an obvious reason will lead to an unnecessary expense and can potentially expose the individual to risk. There is no research that supports regular replacement of implants unless a problem exists.

It is important to note though, that implants are not designed to last a lifetime. The risk that leakage will occur in the first decade is quite low. It is thought to be less than five-percent. If the implant is made of saline, a leak in it will be absorbed rapidly by the body. The loss of volume or size will make the leak very obvious without the need to perform any tests.

Back in the late 1980's and into the early part of the 1990's, silicone implants that had developed a leak were thought to be the cause of any number of diseases. These claims were all found to be without any merit whatsoever. But a silicone implant that has sprung a leak does tend to be more difficult to diagnose than when it happens to a saline one.

When you choose silicone for your breast augmentation procedure, there are seldom any external signs of symptoms that there is any leakage or seepage. For that reason, the FDA recommends all silicone patients have regular MRI examinations to look for leaks. Ultrasounds and mammograms are not as useful in screening for implant leaks. Some surgeons will tell you that having an MRI every five to eight years is all that is needed, unless you yourself suspect an issue has arisen. An MRI is considered to be the standard medical test for diagnosing leaks where implants filled with silicone gel are concerned.

Breast augmentation, if done right the first time, should not present a problem. As long as the implants you received remain intact, they should be left alone. Upon examining your chest closely, your doctor will be able to tell you whether another surgical procedure is required or whether all is well with your new breasts.

Breast Augmentation: The Recovery Period

Over the years, breast augmentation has been tremendously popular because the results have been predictably good. The only real way to improve this procedure was to make it easier on the patient. This article explains small but significant changes in breast augmentation that have achieved just that. For years, breast enlargement was an operation performed under sedation or "twilight" anesthesia, where a breast implant was frequently not so carefully inserted beneath a woman's breast typically; the surgery takes about two hours. There are four main breast augmentations surgical techniques. The techniques are the inframammary (under the breast) technique, the Transaxillary (under the arm) technique, the Transumbilical (belly button) technique, and the Periareolar (around the areola) technique.

The most common breast augmentation procedure is the Inframammary technique, which inserts the implant in the fold where the breast meets the chest wall, leaving no visible scars. There is less impact to milk production with this augmentation technique because neither the glandular tissue nor the innervation is affected. If the implant is placed on top of the pectoral muscle (each of the four large paired muscles that cover the front of the rib cage and serve to draw the forelimbs toward the chest), it can exert pressure on the ducts and glands, which may reduce milk production functionality.

The Transaxillary Breast Augmentation technique is to minimize visible scarring. The Transaxillary incision technique requires placement of an incision in the extreme upper, outer region of the breast, near the juncture ("pit") of the arm to the torso. The incision is generally invisible even with the arm raised. Implants are usually placed below the muscle. The impact to milk production is usually minimal because the glandular tissue and nerves are largely undisturbed. As with the other incision techniques, placement of the implant above the muscle will result in greater impairment than placement underneath. The Transumbillical Breast Augmentation (TUBA) is performed by inserting the implant through an incision in the umbilicus (navel) and moving it into place in the breast. In this technique, no incisions are made on the breast tissue or into the breast tissue, although the breast tissue is disrupted and sometimes damaged as the implant is brought into position. Insertion through the umbilicus makes it difficult to position the implant accurately, requiring the use of a camera scope. It also permits placement only above the muscle. Like the transaxillary incision technique, the Transumbillical incision technique preserves glandular function and nerve response so that the impact to milk production is usually minimal.

The periareolar incision technique requires an incision around the areola. It is often used by surgeons to hide scarring. Placement of the implant in this location results in considerable duct, glandular, and nerve damage. Ducts and glands are likely to be severed because the incision penetrates deeply through the breast tissue. If the implant is placed above the muscle, it may further impede milk production functionality by placing pressure upon the glandular tissue. "They say typically, the surgery takes about two hours", postoperative bleeding, often described as "swelling", caused significant and often severe pain, which could last for several weeks. This swelling was often treated by either placing drains or tightly binding the breast, both of which generally added to the patients' discomfort. Returning to normal life as soon as possible is one of the goals for most surgeons for the breast augmentation patient. In my opinion none of this is worth it. I could go on for days why I believe breast augmentation should not be performed.

Some reasons: 1. According to the National Institute of Medicine, 25 to 40 percent of people who get breast implants end up needing another operation to correct something wrong with the first one. 2. Up to 9 percent of saline implants end up deflating within just three years, according to the Food and Drug Administration. The FDA also found that complications become more and more common for each year implants spend in the body. 3. Can you imagine your doctor brushing off life-threatening complications and telling you "You look great!" when you ought to be heading for the emergency room? It's been known to happen in the cosmetic surgery business.

At the end of the day it's not worth it. God made you the way you are and you should love yourself regardless of the size you are, you can be 32 A or 32 D either way that's what you are. Why spend thousands of dollars for a surgery that you will be repeating in 10years from now. Beauty comes from the inside anyways, Inner beauty is the best.

Breast Augmentation - How to Get Ready For Your Breast Lift Surgery

Breast augmentation is the most popular cosmetic enhancement procedure performed in North American today. Many women choose this operation for a variety of reasons and are very happy with the immediate and long-term results. Once making the decision to go ahead with the enhancement, a woman must then decide what size she would like. Ultimately, this should be a candid conversation between the woman and her surgeon, but we will review a few points to consider in this article.

The first point to consider is what you want the final result to look like. Consider perusing photos of models and even Playboy and find women with a physical body shape and frame that is similar to your own. Print or clip out photos of breast sizes and shapes that you like to take along to your doctor's appointment. Breast augmentation is a very personal decision. The final cup size should make you feel comfortable in your new body and proud of the results. When looking at photos, it is a must to review your surgeon's before and after gallery. He or she should have a wide variety of photos to help show you what the final results will look like and keep your expectations realistic.

Once you have found a few photos of a particular breast size that you like, the next step is to try on the new size. Many women get ready for breast augmentation by utilizing removable implants or baggies in their bras and getting a good feel for the new shape and size. Some surgeons have implants that are shaped and weighted to be similar to the final product that you can borrow for a few days or a week. You can also use a plastic baggie or nylon pantyhose filled with rice or bird seed. Try on your clothes over the pretend implants and wear them around the house or out in public to see how you feel. How is the weight on your back? Do you like your new silhouette? Would you go bigger or smaller?

It is important to keep in mind that different cup sizes will look different on each woman. Some of the factors that contribute to varying appearances include chest and ribcage shape, breast shape, dimension and volume, and how much your skin stretches. Skin stretch may be affected by age, previous pregnancies, and weight gain or loss.

Some final things to keep in mind when choosing breast augmentation size have to do with safety and symmetry. Ensure the surgeon fills the implant as full as possible, but not so full that they will risk rupture with the smallest jostle. Overfilled implants give the skin a nice taut look, but are at a higher risk of damage with pressure. You also want to ensure that both breasts are symmetrical looking. If you currently have breasts that are asymmetrical, your physician will want to keep this in mind when placing and filling the implants. He or she can correct for naturally asymmetry.

If you are interested to know more, be sure to consult a certified plastic surgeon to learn more about your options. You can also check online for more information on the different breast augmentation procedures.

New Alternative and Auxiliary Techniques in Breast Augmentation

Breast enhancement in CA 90016 is a surgery growing in popularity as each year passes. Why not? It helps many LA women gain confidence in their bodies, feel more proportionate and more attractive and seems to improve life by leaps and bounds. While all of these things are true, it is still important to know all the side effects and risks. Your Plastic Surgery Doctor in CA 90016 should discuss all of these with you beforehand so that you are well-prepared.

Many women in CA 90016 and LA are getting breast enhancement procedures at rapid paces.

This is one reason it is important to go to a CA 90016 doctor that is licensed and experienced, to ensure that you are getting only approved things put into your body.

Breast Augmentation Methods

What is breast augmentation?

Breast augmentation is enhancement of the breasts using surgery. The usual method involves inserting an implant either above or below the pectoral muscle. This results in breasts that are not only larger, but also have more projection, depending upon the kind of implants that are used, and where they are placed. Breast augmentation is one of the most common kinds of cosmetic surgical procedures being practiced.

What are the risks involved?

Before 1994, there were problems caused by leaks in the kind of implants used. Modern breast implants, however, have an excellent safety record, as is evidenced by how common this operation is. As long as the operation is done by a credible plastic surgeon, there should be no problems, aside from the usual risk of infection inherent in any surgical procedure.

The greatest physical risk is if a layer of collagen forms around the implant, but it is not all that common for this layer to become too thick. Even if this layer should thicken, usually the consequences are no more dire than having the implant removed. More about this risk will be explained below.

What are the materials used in implants?

The two most common kinds of implants use either silicone gel or saline in their content. In the early 90's, liquid silicone was used to fill the implants, and this could cause problems if there was a leak in the casing. Nowadays, the switch to silicone gel prevents any such leaks, since the silicone is no longer liquid and cannot spill out. Implants that use silicone gel are by far the most popular and the most commonly used, especially since saline implants can still potentially cause problems because of leaks.

What else do I need to know about implants?

Breast implants are also classified according to their shape. The two kinds are either round or tear-shaped. Tear-shaped implants can give a more natural look, depending upon the kind of augmentation desired, but it is possible for them to rotate or move out of place, changing the appearance of the breast. Also tear-shaped implants need a longer incision in order to insert them.

Naturally, the aftermath of smaller incisions are easier to conceal. Round implants, on the other hand, roll naturally with the shape of the breast, and are overwhelmingly the more popular kind of implant. When the patient stands, and under the influence of gravity, round implants give a natural, "classic" look to the breasts.

Another way to classify implants is according to the kind of shell they use, either smooth or textured. Textured implants are believed to lessen the risk of capsular contracture, although whether they actually do this is still a debated issue.

What is capsular contracture?

When an implant is inserted into the breast, the human body treats it as a foreign object. In order to protect itself, the body forms a "capsule" of collagen around it. If this capsule becomes too thick, this can lead to changes in the way the breast looks and feels. While it is not unusual for a thin layer of collagen to form, in the rarer circumstance where the collagen becomes too thick, it may become necessary to remove the implants and replace them.

Capsular contracture cannot always be predicted or prevented, especially since some of the causes are genetic. Nevertheless, it's possible to lower the risk of capsular contracture happening by making sure that the surgery is conducted in a completely sterile environment, and making sure that the pockets for the implants are completely clear.

How long will recovery take?

Recovery usually takes around two weeks, but it can be different depending on how long each person naturally takes in order to recover from an operation. During the recovery period, it is best to have sufficient support for the breast in order to help the healing process, and to give more movement for the arms.

After recovery, there should be no problem with breastfeeding, since the implants do not interfere with the mammary glands where milk is produced. The implants should also not interfere with mammograms, although more than one image may need to be taken in order to get a clear picture of the breast.

Many women who are unhappy with the appearance of their breasts seek out plastic surgery to solve the problem. Often times, I see patients come in who believe they need a breast augmentation, which is the placement of breast implants either under the muscle or above the muscle. They complain that their breasts are droopy and the believe that simply placing breast implants in there will solve the problem. In reality, breast augmentation alone is not going to solve the problem of drooping breasts. What they really need is a breast lift (mastopexy), or a mastopexy augmentation which is a combination of the two. The question is, how do you know? There is a simple test that might tell you!

The key is in understanding what is occurring physiologically. Pregnancy and breast-feeding can make breasts grow significantly, stretching them out and then after breast-feeding has ended, the tissue shrinks, and in some cases, the skin doesn't shrink back to the previous state of being. Also, some of the breast tissue after breast-feeding can disappear. There are lots of measurements that can be made to determine the need for a breast lift. But without going into all that, there is one simple test you can do at home that can demonstrates the need: the pencil test.

To perform the pencil test all you need is a pencil. If you place a pencil under your breast and your breast is able to hold the pencil without any other assistance, a breast lift may be the solution. A breast lift will tighten the skin. Will there still be some sagging in some patients, especially with C cup or larger breasts? Of course, but the breast will have a natural shape which it otherwise did not. When an implant is put in, it is usually placed under the chest muscle. This holds the implant up and actually works as a living bra. If the breast is already sagging, it has a tendency to slide off and create a "Snoopy breast" if it is not lifted (prominent nipple-aereolar complex often looks like the comic character "Snoopy"). If it is put over the muscle, it may actually look all right for a while but then it is relatively common for the breast to sag with the weight of the implant especially if it is saline which then brings back the original problem, only worse. For the best longevity in someone who needs a mastopexy breast lift or the combination of breast lift and breast augmentation, I prefer a submuscular implant with a lift.

Is Breast Augmentation Surgery Right For You?

Is Breast Augmentation Surgery Right For You?

A breast augmentation is a serious surgery that involves a period where you must limit your activity and follow the doctor's directions explicitly. Here are a few things that you can expect after the operation.

Activity: Your doctor should have specific guidelines for recovering from breast augmentation surgery. He or she will recommend avoiding strenuous exercise, vigorous sexual acts, and heavy lifting for a period of 4 to 6 weeks. This will help the incisions heal and result in less unsightly scarring. If you manage to truly take it easy during this time, your body will be better able to fight potential infection, close the wound edges, and reduce swelling over a shorter period of time. This means the immediate and long-term results will look much better. Within 6 months, your incisions should heal to small white scar lines.

Bra: Your physician may also recommend wearing a particularly supportive bra during your recovery. He or she will suggest a close-fitting sport-style bra that isn't too tight, but gently holds your new breasts in place. Lingerie with a lot of lace or underwire support is not ideal and will actually be more painful to wear. Save the new bikinis and fancy lingerie for later on, like when you can once again engage in vigorous sexual activity.

Couch potato: Recovering from breast augmentation surgery does not mean you need to become a couch potato. It is important to keep moving and keep the blood flowing, but just don't overdo it. A healthy body is an active body. Keep your body moving and it will help keep your mind fresh, even when you are stuck indoors or away from work.

Drugs: Your physician may prescribe certain medication for you to take during the recovery period. This medication should be taken according to the prescription directions and will likely be given to you in order to reduce pain and inflammation. Check with your doctor if you are allergic to narcotics or have any other questions about the drug before filling the prescription. He or she will give you a certain amount. The pain and inflammation should reduce as the recovery period progresses. Any increase in pain should be immediately reported to your doctor as it may be a sign of infection and should be treated with a course of antibiotics.

Easy: As you can see, a common theme during breast augmentation recovery is taking it easy. Find a friend or enlist a family member to help you during the immediate post-operative period. Curl up on the couch with a good book or television series for a few days while your body initially recovers from the dramatic shock of surgery. Eventually get the blood going again with short walks. Keep moving to keep your circulation up and your recovery time will be shorter and less painful.

Keep all of these things in mind when visiting your plastic surgeon or inquiring about breast augmentation. Knowing what to expect during the recovery period can be half the battle. Look and feel your best with dramatically beautiful results.

plastic surgery before and after
